The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to an oil spill at the Richards Oil Company facility in Casmalia on 2/15. According to County Fire spokesperson Eli Iskow, approximately 40 barrels-or 1,680 gallons-of crude oil overflowed into a secondary containment area due to a mechanical failure. No oil leaked into the surrounding environment, but County Fire will require Richards to fix the problem and dispose of the spilled oil.
