A Santa Barbara County Taxpayer’s Association report has identified Santa Ynez’s Chumash Casino Resort as the county’s second-fastest-growing employer and a contributor of $366 million to the county economy between 2001 and 2006. The report, authored by economist Mark Schniepp, claims the casino created 900 jobs since 2002. Santa Barbara County Supervisors, however, have voted not to hear the details of the report, due in part to Tax Payers Association ties to the casino.
