Highway construction on both the 101 and 154 is scheduled to continue next week, starting Monday and continuing through Thursday.

On the 101, most of the work this next week stems from preparations for the improvements to the stretch of highway running between Milpas Street and Hot Springs Road. Lines will be repainted, causing some lane and ramp closures on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights – between 8:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. on the northbound 101 and between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. on the southbound 101. Traffic will be able to pass through either direction, however.

On the 154, crews will be working to install new turn lanes at both Paradise Road and the Vista Point west of Cold Spring Canyon Bridge. Motorists should expect lane closures and resulting delays of about 30 minutes Monday through Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Further closures and delays are expected from the construction of a safety barrier at Paradise and Vista Point on Tuesday and Thursday night, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Any motorist who can get to their destination using the 101 instead of the 154 is encouraged to do so, to help lessen the waits of those who don’t have that option. Finally, cyclists will be rerouted onto Stagecoach Road and around construction areas in an effort to keep them safe, said a Santa Barbara County press release.
