Hometown non-profits benefit from Jack Johnson concert

At most venues, the Jack Johnson Tour hosts a handful of regional nonprofits in addition to the four regular national/international organizations. In Santa Barbara, where the community ties to Jack and company are strong, they’ve opened up their Village Green to 15 hometown nonprofits, including five from UCSB alone. Here’s a brief guide to whom you’ll find in the Village Green at Harder Stadium.

E-Coalition: Serves as a network for environmentally minded groups based on campus. Visit sustainability.ucsb.edu/students.

Emerging Green Builders: Students interested in sustainable building, associated with the Central Coast chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. Visit usgbc.org.

Environmental Affairs Board (EAB): Fosters volunteerism, spreads environmental awareness, and influences campus planning policy. Visit as.ucsb.edu/eab.

TGIF (The Green Initiative Fund): This student fee-powered fund gives out more than $100,000 per year to green initiatives. Visit sustainability.ucsb.edu/tgif.

Coastal Fund: A student fee-supported fund that pays for preservation, education, access, and research of the shoreline. Visit spf.as.ucsb.edu.

Growing Solutions: Uses education, native plant propagation, and hands-on restoration to address watershed issues. Visit growingsolutions.org.

Santa Barbara Channelkeeper: Restores, protects, monitors, and teaches about the Santa Barbara Channel. Visit sbck.org.
