• The Salvation Army’s Santa Barbara Corps is looking for volunteer families and individuals to participate in their annual holiday Adopt-a-Family Program. Volunteers are matched with local families in need of food, clothing, and toys, and the volunteers purchase items specific to that family’s holiday wish list. Call 964-8738 x13 for more info.

• Santa’s going to do a complete turnaround when he visits S.B. on December 17: he’ll ditch his sleigh for a bus, and, instead of giving out presents, he’ll collect them. Why? As Saint Nick drives down State Street, he’ll be picking up hundreds of toys for needy children along the way. But before he can give them as gifts, People’s Self-Help Housing needs you to help wrap them. The wrapping project will start at 10:30 a.m. at the Ladera Complex (322 Ladera St.); call 962-5152 for more info.

• The Santa Barbara County Foodbank needs donations for its annual holiday food drive, which provides food for thousands of hungry people in the area every year. The Foodbank asks you to drop off nonperishable food items at the green food drive barrels, which have been placed at all major grocery stores in the South County. To find a green barrel near you, visit foodbanksbc.org. Call 967-5741 for more info.
