From Fire to Flood

Despite much anxiety that the rain that fell on southern Santa Barbara County on Tuesday, November 25, would cause the areas ravaged this year by the Gap and Tea fires to experience mud flows or landslides, the scorched earth emerged from the showers intact.

County 12-4

The hotly contested race for California’s 19th Senate District ended late on 11/26 when Hannah-Beth Jackson conceded to her opponent, Tony Strickland.

City 12-4

Rain and cold did not stop Valerie Paget and Tracie Jones from continuing their journey from West Hollywood to San Francisco, as they passed through Santa Barbara on 11/25 in a state-spanning protest of Prop. 8, which passed on 11/4 and effectively banned gay marriage.
