Last year, Chips for Kids – the holiday-time California Highway Patrol program which collect toys for needy children – distributed more than 4,000 toys. This year’s collection, however, has not found nearly as much success, but citizens still have a few days before the December 19 deadline to make some last-minute donations. The Santa Barbara CHP office is asking anyone who might have any potential toys that meet the Chips for Kids standards – that is, new and unwrapped – to drop them off and help make a few underprivileged kids’ Christmases more special.

Toys may be dropped off at the following locations: 6465 Calle Real in Goleta; 1710 North Carlotti Drive in Santa Maria; 166 Industrial Way in Buellton; 4656 Valentine Road in Ventura; 610 Spring Road in Moorpark. Additionally, toys may be taken to Citibank locations at 3757 State Street and 5180 Hollister Avenue or the Golden 1 Credit Union location at 5676 Calle Real.
