On Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m., UCSB history professor Richard Oglesby will give a lecture called A Legacy Set in Stone: Santa Barbara Architecture, 1870-1940. An expert on California history and the American West, Oglesby will “examine the tradition [of stone carving] by both private and public entities, and embellished by the hands of artistic stonemasons from many parts of the world.” Oglesby is the author of several books, including Plaza De la Guerra Reconsidered and Stone Architecture in Santa Barbara (Images of America). The event takes place at the Comedor Room at Casa De la Guerra (15 E. De la Guerra St.). Admission is $10-$15; $5 for students (price includes reception after).
