In a 3-2 vote, the Goleta Planning Commission voted on 3/23 to recommend approval of the Citrus Village condominium complex proposed for construction at 7388 Calle Real. Touted by the developer as an affordable housing project, it was supported by some area businesses as much-needed workforce housing, although commissioners Jonny Wallis and Bill Shelor said that a similar approach had been tried and failed in Old Town Goleta.

After several years of discussion, the Goleta Water Board voted earlier this year to replace Chip Wulbrandt, longtime attorney for the district, due to alleged conflicts of interest. Boardmember Bill Rosen said that Wulbrandt’s firm regularly represents UCSB, which is one of the district’s biggest customers. Wulbrandt was replaced by Fran Farina, an attorney associated with Monterey-based DeLay & Laredo.
