The Cleveland Browns drafted Alex Mack, a San Marcos High School graduate and stand-out center, in the 21st round of the football draft. Mack, the son of former Santa Barbara City water czar Steve Mack, won a bushel of athletic honors while playing for UC Berkeley, where he resisted enticements to turn pro prior to graduation.
