Breakers Move Games to San Marcos High

The Santa Barbara Breakers have moved out of the SBCC Sports Pavilion and will play their next several West Coast Pro Basketball League games at San Marcos High School.

Tonight (Saturday, May 23) the Breakers will face the Ventura County Jets. Tipoff is at 7:05 p.m.

Curt Pickering, president and coach of the Breakers, said the team’s move was prompted by dwindling attendance at SBCC, their home court for the past two-and-a-half seasons.

“I’m looking for solutions,” Pickering said. “I’d like to get the community more attached. If we’re going to get 200-300 fans, let’s spread it around.”

Santa Barbara leads its league with an 8-2 record. Ventura, the first team to knock off the Breakers in two years, is 5-5.

The Breakers are coming off a 164-129 victory over the Hollywood Jammers on the road. Newly acquired forward Jayme Miller of Cal State Northridge broke the Breakers’ single-game scoring record with 42 points and 17 rebounds, while veteran guard Tim Taylor contributed 37 points, six assists, and four steals.
