On Friday, June 5, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to two separate vehicle accidents on Highway 154.

The first, which occurred about a half-mile north of San Antonio Creek Road, involved four vehicles and necessitated the arrival of a county fire engine and ladder truck. A 48-year-old man was transported to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

The second accident occurred a quarter-mile south of Painted Cave Road, in the Windy Gap area. A county fire engine and battalion chief as well as an am ambulance and Sheriff’s and CHP emergency vehicles arrived at the scene of the two-car collision. The Jaws of Life were employed to extricate one passenger, and a 60-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

The CHP is still investigating both accidents.
