The Dish: NorthStar’s baristas pride themselves on their full-bodied and flavorful brews as well as artful latte foam and non-coffee alternatives. Their State Street patio is filled from dawn ’til dusk with people watchers under red-arched awnings. Patrons can enjoy a variety of snack options including pastries from D’Angelo Bread, scrambled eggs, bagels, sandwiches, soups, salads, delicious desserts, and six flavors of McConnell’s ice cream. An inviting interior houses a stone fireplace, reading materials, a bookcase decorated with antique novels and sailboat bookends, comfortable leather couches, and free Wi-Fi Internet access-a perk plenty of customers very much enjoy. Beverages range from Oreo cookie freeze ice blended drinks to Mexican spice hot chocolate to house coffee, the menu’s “daily essential.” NorthStar is a friendly stop for a coffee on the go, a business meeting, or to sip and savor over a research paper.
