The Interfaith Initiative of Santa Barbara County offers its deepest sympathies to the families of those killed or wounded in the tragic shooting at Ft. Hood on Thursday, November 5, 2009. Such a heinous crime, as President Obama calls this shocking attack, has no place in our society and community. We stand with our fellow Americans in praying for the victims and their loved ones.

We also urge the media and politicians to show restraint in how this tragic event is reported. While no political or religious ideology can ever justify such indiscriminate violence, neither should any one faith community or religion be maligned for the actions of an individual.-Kathleen Moore, and Terre Sanite, Interfaith Initiative of Santa Barbara County
