For many, tell them it’s time for the Santa Barbara County Vintners’ Festival and they’ll be out the door and on the way before you got to the “-ner.” Now in its 28th year, the festival features more than 130 wines and is therefore one of the best ways to taste your way around the county in one afternoon. All that good grape juice is accompanied by delicious noshables from more than two dozen restaurants, caterers, and purveyors of specialty foods. For entertainment, there’s a silent auction benefiting charities plus displays from area artists. This year’s event is at River Park in Lompoc on Saturday, April 17, 1-4 p.m. Don’t forget there’s fun to be had in wine country all weekend, from special open houses and tastings at wineries to the opportunity to pick up a Vintners’ Visa, your passport to 12 wineries that then offer complimentary tastings and special goodies just for you.
