Das Williams picked up the endorsement of the California Democratic Party in his quest to cinch his party’s nomination to run for the 35th Assembly District, now occupied by Pedro Nava. Williams, a left-leaning Santa Barbara city councilmember, is running against Susan Jordan, an environmental activist and former county planning commissioner who is married to Nava. Williams and Jordan will face off this June, and the winner of that race will run against the winner of the Republican primary contest—Mike Stoker or Daniel Goldberg—in November.
