Post-Fourth of July cleanup on downtown beaches was decidedly easier this year compared to others, according to a student-based volunteer organization called The Beach Angels. Last year, the group—which conducts weekly low-tide cleanups—said it picked up more than 200 pounds of plastic, glass, and metal debris in a 50- to 100-yard area around Stearns Wharf, but this time around it collected 35 pounds of trash in triple that space. The group gave a shout-out to the city’s sanitation department and MarBorg Industries for planning ahead to keep things clean.
