Bowfishing for carp will now be allowed in Lake Cachuma, thanks to an unanimous decision by the Board of Supervisors to change a county ordinance on 9/21. The population of the carp, considered an invasive species for having a negative impact on both water quality and on desirable sport fishing, has been increasing in recent years. Bowfishing utilizes specialized archery equipment, with a small arrow usually attached to a bow to retrieve captured fish.
