This year is the 200th anniversary of Oktoberfest, which began as a one-off public celebration of the 1810 marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. The days-long party was such a hit, they held it again the following year. And so a tradition was born. Throughout the years, Oktoberfest celebrations have popped up all over the world, including in Ojai. For the third year, Ojai Beverage Company is throwing its Oktoberfest party. The two-day event will feature German beers on tap, German food, and oompah bands. Lederhosen or beer maiden outfits are encouraged, and you must be 21 years old to attend the celebration, Saturday, October 2, 2-10 p.m., and Sunday, October 3, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at 655 East Ojai Avenue, Ojai. Admission is $5. For more info, call 646-1700 or visit ojaibevco.com.
