The sale of tobacco will soon be banned within a 1,000-foot radius of elementary, middle, and high schools in the unincorporated parts of Santa Barbara County, after the Board of Supervisors voted to amend an ordinance. Fines and penalties associated with selling or distributing tobacco to minors will also be increased. Salud Carbajal, 1st District Supervisor, said the ordinance was brought to promote the health and safety of children.
