Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush with Kindness has a goal of preserving home ownership by helping homeowners who can not afford to maintain the exterior of their homes. When basic expenses exceed income, home maintenance can be the first to go and years of deferred repairs can result in unsafe living conditions. “Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County looks forward to being able to serve a greater number of people in our community. The economic downturn has left more people struggling to keep up with necessary home repairs. We see the need in our community and are glad to provide the resources and volunteers to provide these essential repairs.” said Joyce McCullough, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County. “A Brush with Kindness will increase the viability of the neighborhoods we serve.”A Brush with Kindness complements Habitat for Humanity’s construction programs that bring decent and affordable homes to low-income families. All partner families must meet Habitat’s income requirements,as well as show a need for crucial exterior repairs and a willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity.
