An appellate attorney for Jesse James Hollywood was denied information on jurors from Hollywood’s 2009 trial, when he was found guilty of first degree murder in the death of Nicholas Markowitz and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Judge Brian Hill on 8/23 found the request was too similar to one made by Hollywood’s trial attorneys in their motion for a new trial. Hill denied them as well, citing juror privacy. Hollywood, whose story was told in the film Alpha Dog, is attempting to argue the jury didn’t properly deliberate when determining his guilt.
