About 200 area Democrats got together Monday for their annual Labor Day fundraiser at Oak Park. With just over a month before ballots go out for the City Council race, the focus of the day was on Iya Falcone, Deborah Schwartz, and Cathy Murillo, whose speech was received enthusiastically by the energetic crowd. Joining the three candidates were Assemblymember Das Williams, Representative Lois Capps, California party chair Eric Bauman, and State Controller John Chiang.

Hannah-Beth Jackson, who intends to run for State Senate next year, emceed the event, while her to-be opponent, Oxnard Harbor Commissioner Jason Hodge, and his fiancée, Assemblymember Fiona Ma, listened on. Another Dem rumored to be running, former assemblymember Pedro Nava, was not present at the day’s festivities.
