On Sunday night, SBIFF 2012 came to a close, but not before announcing the winners of the various competitions that had been going on for the past 10 days. Making those decisions was the following panel of esteemed judges: actor/comedian Dave Koechner; actor/director Brad Hall; actor/writer W. Earl Brown; actor Anthony Zerbe and his wife Arnette Zerbe; SBIFF originator Phyllis de Picciotto; director Glenn Jordan; actor Tim Matheson; online awards columnist Kris Tapley; and writer/ director Perry Lang.

The Santa Barbara Independent‘s Audience Choice Award: Starbuck

Panavision Spirit Award for Independent Cinema: Up There

Special Jury Prize for Artistic Distinction: Barrymore

Best International Film Award: Free Men

Nueva Vision Award (Spanish/Latin American films): Found Memories

Nueva Vision Honorable Mention: The Rumble of the Stones

Best Documentary Film Award: Pretty Old

Cinema Nouveau Award (French film): Heat Wave (Apres Le Sud)

Bruce Corwin Award for Best Live Action Short Film Under 30 Minutes: L Train

Bruce Corwin Award for Best Animation Short Film: The Missing Key

Fund for Santa Barbara Social Justice Award: Dirty Energy
