The city must pay monetary damages to three victims of 2008’s Tea Fire who lost their homes and were prevented by the city from rebuilding because of the Conejo Slide Ordinance. After a trial in January, Judge Thomas Anderle found the ordinance unconstitutional. A further trial will determine the amount of damages the city must pay. Attorney Joseph Liebman, who represented the three families, said his clients will be entitled to the fair rental value for a home similar to the houses burned down in the fire.
