KDB to Present Live Broadcast of the Santa Barbara Symphony Season Finale
Features New Composition by Grammy® Award-Winning Composer
Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. This concert at the Granada Theater will feature a new composition by Grammy® award-winning Argentinean composer, Osvaldo Golijov. Nir Kabaretti, the music and artistic director for the Santa Barbara Symphony, will conduct.
The program will open with Golijov’s composition, a mixture of melancholy and optimism, and will be followed by Mozart’s Concerto for Horn No. 2, described as a chase between the orchestra and the soloist. In closing, the audience will be treated to Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Op. 88, a warm, symphonic masterpiece full of poetic moments and exuberant folk music.

The KDB broadcast will be hosted by Tim Owens, who will be joined by co-host Ramon ARAÏZA, the Santa Barbara Symphony’s “Pre-concert Guy.” The broadcast is sponsored by Montecito Bank & Trust, the Samarkand Retirement Community, and by financial gifts to the Santa Barbara Foundation’s KDB Fund.
