The Carpinteria City Council voted 4-1 to place a bed tax increase on this November’s ballot in hopes of generating $250,000 in additional revenues. While Carpinteria’s budget woes pale in comparison to other local governments, they proved sufficient to shut down the sheriff’s substation, located in Carp’s City Hall, two weeks ago.
