A 22-year-old Santa Barbara man under the influence of heroin passed out behind the wheel of his moving car Thursday morning and crashed into a home in the 600 block of Aurora Avenue.

Jesse Rogers wasn’t injured in the accident — he was the sole occupant of the vehicle — and no one was in the house at the time. According to authorities, he was driving down Roberto Road before crossing Aurora, jumping the curb, then traveling across the home’s front lawn before hitting its living room wall.

Paramedics revived Rogers at the scene and transported him to Cottage Hospital. After he was treated for the overdose of opiates, Rogers was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of narcotics, possession of narcotics, and transportation of heroin, methamphetamine, and marijuana, said police spokesperson Sgt. Riley Harwood.
