Mayor Helene Schneider and fellow city councilmembers, alongside other elected officials including County Supervisor Janet Wolf, officially unveiled Shoreline Park’s improved safety features this Wednesday. New lighting, fencing, and landscaping have been added to the park — as well as relocating some of the benches and repainting several picnic tables and signs — in response to general erosion concerns in the area and the major cliff collapse in 2008. The $237,000 project was paid for out of the city’s General Fund, $40,000 coming from the Santa Barbara County Coastal Resource Enhancement Fund.
