The GABF competition brings brewers from all over the country, and from 48 states. 4,338 beers were entered from 666 craft breweries, the most in its 35 year history. 84 different beer categories are judged for a week by American and International judges.

Figueroa Mountain Brewing was founded in 2010 by Jim and Jaime Dietenhofer, a father and son team. Since then they have experienced significant growth as well as 18 competitive medals, but none as coveted as the GABF medals. “We were ecstatic to win a medal last year at the 2011 GABF for our Stagecoach Stout, but to win 3 this year was truly amazing and we couldn’t be happier” explained Jaime Dietenhofer, the company’s CEO. “You work so hard to make a great product and to be recognized by your peers and critics at this level is truly an honor.”

The medals won this year included 3 bronze medals for their Danish Red Lager, the Stagecoach Stout, and the Wrangler Wheat.

“Our Brew master AJ Stoll really deserves a lot of credit,” said Jim Dietenhofer Vice President, “He has done it two years in a row and continues to produce amazing beer.”

The brewery has been expanding its footprint on both brewery tanks and space as well as a beer garden for the patrons to enjoy the outside. The company has also broken ground on a location in Santa Barbara for a second brewery location. This location will be focused on smaller batch, nuanced beers. “This is really where my mad scientist characteristics will come into play, this is what I dreamed about when I first became a brewer, to dream and create, and now it is a reality!” exclaimed brewmaster AJ Stoll. The company estimates the brewery will be online just after the new year.
