This week and over the next several months, Los Padres National Forest workers will carry out a series of prescribed burns around the Figueroa Mountain Recreational Area to cut back on dangerous fuel levels and “improve the overall health of the forest,” a Los Padres spokesperson said. The vegetation was masticated and piled during recent thinning projects. The burns will happen when weather conditions and air quality are suitable, the spokesperson explained.
