At tryouts, candidates will submit an application (download an interactive application at www.sbparks.org/aquatics) and complete a 1,000 meter ocean swim in less than 20 minutes.

Tryouts are the first step in the process to become a Santa Barbara County Lifeguard. To qualify for a beach lifeguard position, candidates must complete a demanding 40 hour United States Lifesaving Association Open Water Lifeguard Training in addition to CPR and extensive First Aid training. Trainings will be in March and April on weekends.

For more information about the Aquatics Program or to download an application please visit the County Aquatics Program website at www.sbparks.org/aquatics. For all other questions please contact Jon Menzies at (805)729-7508.
