— For those of us who loved to walk along the bluffs, pausing here and there to look down at those on the beach, gaze at the islands in the distance and slowly make our way west to the far point where you could lean against the gnarled old cypress tree and enjoy the sun’s last dip into the ocean, the tree is no more.

Last night, the fierce winds that began to pick up momentum just after sunset blew down the cypress tree. Thanks to Alisa Reino, who shared this picture with us, the cypress is now resting on its side. It will be missed.
