One Wine Ampelos Pinot Noir 2009: When Whole Foods came to town, they immediately partnered with Santa Barbara vintners to start the One Wine program, which this round features a biodynamically farmed pinot noir ($30) from Ampelos Cellars in the Sta. Rita Hills, whose baking spice nose gives way to a plush and potent drinking experience.

This One Wine round also features a Happy Canyon Vineyard Merlot Blend 2010 ($18), an nicely earthy and tannic concoction featuring splashes of cabernet sauvignon, cab franc, malbec, and petit verdot, and  a Sextant cab ($20) from Paso Robles. Get them at Whole Foods (3761 State Street) before they’re gone.
