FIRED UP: See (and smell) some of S.B.’s fi nest grillers today at Oak Park.

Today’s the day: After a lengthy (and mouthwatering) submission process, we’ve found ourselves with a solid slate of tong-wielding BBQ artists, ready to throw down over the coals and show us what they’ve got at our Fourth Annual Sizzling Summer BBQ Contest. Contenders will compete in one of three categories — pro, amateur, and a vegetarian pro/am — serving up their best pulled pork, smoked chicken, cornbread, potato salad, and pretty much anything else you’ve ever seen at a barbecue, all in the hopes of being crowned Grill Master.

For those of you who like to watch, there’s still time to get in on the action; stop by the office to pick up a ticket, or email food@independent.com, and we’ll put you on the list. But hurry: The action heats up this afternoon at 5 sharp at Oak Park. Finding us will be easy enough — just follow your nose.
