Is it just me, or does the dawn of summertime (let’s, just for a moment, put June and its inevitable gloom aside) demand al fresco drinking? The Canary Hotel (31 W. Carrillo St.; 879-9100) clearly thinks so, and it has resurrected its Wine on the Roof series to prove it — because really, what could be more delightful than starting your week with sips of some of our area’s best vino, all while taking in that amazing, 360-degree city view?

The events, which take place every Monday through mid-October on the hotel’s Rooftop Perch, bring the tasting rooms to you, featuring a new winery each week, including Beckmen, Stolpman, Zaca Mesa, Sanford, Jaffurs, Summerland, Presqu’ile, Carr, and Margerum. Cost is $25 a pop — which includes complimentary apps and those aforementioned delightful views — and, if you join in more than once (and remember to bring back your reusable glass), they’ll knock five bucks off the price. It’s a case of the Mondays, gone good. (And, for planners: The grand finale goes down Oct. 14, when several wineries will pour at a mini wine-fest/adieu to daylight saving time.)
