The Santa Ynez Chumash Environmental Office Hosts Coastal Cleanup Event at El Capitan State Beach
The Santa Ynez Chumash Environmental Office (SYCEO) is hosting a beach cleanup at El Capitan State Beach on Saturday, September 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. This public event is part of a California-wide effort to keep our oceans and beaches free of debris that can harm habitat, wildlife and visitors.
El Capitan State Beach is located along the Gaviota Coast, 25 miles west of Santa Barbara. The event will include a morning beach cleanup, followed by a barbeque lunch, games, educational activities, and raffle for participants. The event is open to the public but RSVPs are requested.
There is limited free parking at El Capitan for those participating in the cleanup. Additionally, the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians is offering a free shuttle that will leave the Tribal Hall (100 Via Juana Lane Santa Ynez, CA 93460) at 8:30 a.m. and return by 4 p.m. RSVP’s for the free shuttle are required as seats are limited.
