Community Meetings on New Septic System Regulations
Santa Barbara County Environmental Health Services is developing a Local Agency Management Program (LAMP) that will regulate the installation, repair and maintenance of Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (i.e. septic systems throughout the county). Environmental Health Services will be hosting a series of community meetings to introduce and discuss the LAMP process, to answer questions and to receive comments.
The LAMP is being written in response to the adoption of statewide regulations for septic systems by the State Water Resources Control Board. These regulations provide local jurisdictions with the option of developing alternative standards that are equally protective of public health and safety and reflect local conditions.
Three meetings have been scheduled at various locations throughout the county:
• October 22, 2013, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, St. Marks in the Valley Church, 2901 Nojoqui Ave., Los Olivos
• October 24, 2013, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Board of Supervisors Hearing Rm, 511 E. Lakeside Pkwy., Santa Maria
• November 5, 2013, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Employees University, 267 Camino del Remedio, Santa Barbara
The meetings will be conducted in an “open house” style. Residents will be able to meet with staff to discuss the LAMP, answer questions and take any comments made by attendees. All meetings will be held in early evening hours to accommodate interested residents.
