Channel Islands National Park Superintendent Russell Galipeau invites the public to learn about the Draft General Management Plan and Wilderness Study/Environmental Impact Statement for Channel Islands National Park.

The National Park Service (NPS) will be hosting two open houses to solicit public review and comment on this document that will provide overall guidance for the park over the next 25 to 40 years. The draft plan is available at: http://parkplanning.nps.gov/chis

The open house events will be held in Ventura and Santa Barbara on:

Tuesday, December 3 Open House 6:00 – 7:00 pm

Wilderness Study 7:00 – 8:00 pm

The plan has a no action alternative and two action alternatives that describe how the park would be managed for visitor experience and safety, commercial services, resource protection, and park operations. Alternative 3, the NPS preferred alternative, would enhance visitor experience and park operations while continuing to provide a high level of resource protection.
