WHO: Master Sommelier Brian McClintic and Sommelier Eric Railsback, managing partners of Les Marchands Wine Bar & Merchant in Santa Barbara’s Funk Zone.

WHAT: McClintic and Railsback, stars of the 2013 hit film SOMM, partnered with the film’s distributor to create the SOMM Wine Club from Les Marchands earlier this year. The Club provides members with exclusive access to these knowledgeable wine expert picks along with personal wine descriptions, tasting notes and recommended food pairings to accompany each shipment. Due to The Club’s popularity, McClintic and Railsback have introduced three additional wine packages of their own creation, just in time for the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Les Marchands Wine Club Series now includes three new packages in addition to the original SOMM Seasonal and Annual Wine Clubs:

SBC WINE CLUB – 2 hand selected Santa Barbara County wines each month

$80 per shipment (plus shipping and sales tax)

DAILY DRINKERS CLUB – 2 hand selected value and quality wines each month

$49 per shipment (plus shipping and sales tax)

GRAND CRU CLUB – 2-3 highly allocated Burgundy wines each month

$249 per shipment (plus shipping and sales tax)

In addition to these wine club offerings, Les Marchands now provides specialty gift fulfillment services for individual or business holiday giving. Wine-centric gifts may include hand selected wines with personalized tasting notes by McClintic and Railsback, professionally recognized Zalto stemware and decanters, SOMM DVD’s and/or Les Marchands gift cards. Packages can be customized to fit all needs and include holiday gift-wrapping and shipping.

WHEN: Wine Club signups are effective immediately upon registration online at www.lesmarchandswine.com or in person at Les Marchands Wine Bar & Merchant. Club payments applied monthly at time of shipment. View website for details and shipping regulations. Gift fulfillment services are available now and throughout this holiday season.

About Les Marchands Wine Bar & Merchant

Les Marchands Wine Bar & Merchant is the recently launched concept from sommeliers Brian McClintic and Eric Railsback, whose wine trips to Paris and Burgundy inspired their vision to house retail, dining, and education under one roof. Translated as ‘the merchants’ or ‘the shopkeepers,’ Les Marchands encourages an environment where personable product knowledge meets intimate guest interaction. Emulating the respected wine merchants they’ve encountered through their travels, they distinguish themselves by seeking out quality-conscious producers, back vintage bottlings, and rare cuvees not typically seen on the open market.

With over 25 years of restaurant experience between them, McClintic and Railsback are committed to sourcing the finest products for both cellar and kitchen. Point Reyes Toma and Jamon Iberico are foodie favorites from the cheese and charcuterie menu, which complements Les Marchands’ seasonally inspired menu of rotating items including regional offerings of fresh oysters, country inspired lentil salad and pork rillettes.

About SOMM

In the wildly successful documentary, SOMM, viewers are taken on a humorous, emotional and illuminating look into a mysterious world – the Court of Master Sommeliers and the massively intimidating Master Sommelier exam. Written and directed by Jason Wise, SOMM tells the story of four sommeliers attempting to pass the prestigious Master Sommelier exam, a test with one of the lowest pass rates in the world. Those who have passed have put at risk their personal lives, their well-being, and often their sanity to pull it off. Shrouded in secrecy, access to the Court Of Master Sommeliers has always been strictly regulated; cameras have never been allowed anywhere near the exam prior to this film.
