The Goleta City Council authorized the City Manager to execute an agreement with the Camino Real Marketplace to create a Public Safety Fund, which will be funded by a $625,000 donation from the Camino Real Marketplace payable over the next five years. This generous gift from Camino Real Marketplace will be used for public safety needs such as operations and equipment purchases, public education, and emergency preparedness.

“We are dedicated to keeping our community safe. By providing this funding of $625,000 over the next five years, we can help insure that Goleta has the resources it needs to continue providing these important services,” said Mark Linehan, President, Wynmark Company and owner of the Camino Real Marketplace.

“Goleta is grateful for the continued financial support by the Marketplace. Since establishing the Goleta Police Department – Marketplace Station, their on-going funding has been critical in maintaining and expanding our public safety presence. We would not be where we are today without their support,” said Mayor Michael T. Bennett.

The Marketplace has been donating office space next to the movie theater and funding since 2008. This Marketplace Substation is used by Goleta Patrol Officers and houses the Community Services Bureau, DARE program and Explorers Training. It is also the primary office for Goleta’s Community Resource Deputy, who oversees neighborhood and business watch.

The City of Goleta commends Mark Linehan and Camino Real Marketplace for its extraordinary efforts in continuing to make Goleta a safe place to live through this innovative partnership.
