The Goleta Sanitary District is pleased to announce the hiring of Steve Wagner as Assistant General Manager/Assistant District Engineer. This is a new position for the District and in the role Wagner will be responsible for a wide variety of engineering, management, financial and operational functions of the District. He will assist the General Manager in providing recommendations for overall District policies and practices for consideration and action by the Governing Board. Mr. Wagner will also oversee the operations of the District’s operating departments and provide recommendations and assistance to the department supervisors and the General Manager.

“We are pleased to have Mr. Wagner with his vast managerial and technical skills join on our team to continue the excellent service the District provided to the Goleta community,” said Goleta Sanitary District General Manager Kamil Azoury.”

For the last 11 years Wagner has served as the Public Works Director for the City of Goleta. During his tenure he’s overseen a number of important projects. Some of the highlights include the completion of the Cathedral Oaks Overcrossing, the Los Carneros Roundabout, the first phase of the San Jose Creek Project, and numerous park improvement projects.

“We are grateful for the work Steve has done since the City was newly incorporated. His engineering experience and local knowledge helped move the City forward to the place it is today,” said Mayor Michael T. Bennett.

Wagner’s last day at the City will be March 28.

The City is in the process of developing a strategy for recruiting for a Public Works Director.
