SWAT Arrest on Las Positas Place

Thirty-five-year-old Travis Rosenblatt was taken into custody Thursday morning after SWAT Team officers served him an arrest and search warrant at his residence on the 1400 block of Las Positas Place. Rosenblatt was wanted for an armed robbery he allegedly committed at a gas station in February 2013.

The Sheriff’s department’s Special Enforcement Team surrounded the residence at 5 a.m., and after an approximately two-and-a-half-hour standoff, Rosenblatt surrendered and was taken into custody at 7:22 a.m. Sheriff’s personnel used several distracting devices to try to get him to exit the residence, and a reverse 9-1-1 was issued to nearby neighbors around 6:30 a.m. Two other tenants who lived in the home were evacuated, but Rosenblatt refused to come out. He was not armed.

The arrest was a result of newly available DNA evidence, explained Sheriff’s spokesperson Kelly Hoover, and there was a match in CODIS (Combined DNA Index System). In 2006, Rosenblatt was convicted of committing a bank robbery. “This is a great example of how it may seem like a suspect got away with a crime, but DNA evidence assists us with determining who the suspect is,” Hoover said.

Rosenblatt was booked in the county jail and charged with armed robbery. His bail is set at $500,000.
