Why have the people in charge of our city water supply not mandated the enlarging of Cachuma Dam and all the other water storage locations while they are empty? When and if we get some hard rains, we could store twice as much as we do now instead of dumping it over the dam walls, as they have many times.

And why not start a water super highway — moving water where it is very abundant and sending it to drought locations. We had great floods in the south this year, and that water was wasted as it poured into the ocean.

This is not brain surgery; it’s just common sense. Why do American only react to disasters and refuse to think ahead? It is proven that almost one-third of the country is a desert and could be a fabulous resource if we had real leadership from the water experts.
