In its two-day enhanced enforcement operation this past Tuesday andWednesday, the Santa Barbara Police Department issued 87 citations to bicyclists and drivers caught breaking bicyclist-related rules. The majority of the tickets — 69 — went to bicyclists, with 18 motorists also ticketed. Tuesday, November 11 saw 47 citations issued, and Wednesday, November 12 saw 40 issued. According to Sgt. Mike McGrew, the three most common offenses were riding bikes on the sidewalk and through red lights and disobeying stop-sign-related rules.
