The City of Goleta will hold a workshop next week to discuss the latest plans for Old Town Park — near the corner of Hollister Avenue and South Kellogg Road — which have been amended due to the Stage 2 drought declaration. Though the park has historic water use and is not subject to the moratorium, the current park design would exceed its water use allowance, according to city staff. The project’s architecture consultant has been reworking the design plans to reduce water demand, and the city is asking for the public’s input on the latest design.

The park’s construction will include the multi-purpose field, a picnic area, restrooms, a small parking area, and a playground. A possible water reduction measure could be decreasing the size of the turf field and increasing the size of the skateboard plaza or other hardscape areas. The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, January 14, at the Goleta Valley Community Center.
