I recently returned from a fantastic visit to Cuba. Americans are not permitted by the U.S. government to travel to Cuba except as part of an approved group trip. (I got there by joining a Code Pink trip.) I met many Europeans there who are permitted to travel there freely. (Recently a group of City College students went to Cuba as a U.S.-approved group trip.) The Cuban people were wonderful, friendly, and musical but highly impoverished. Let’s end the economy-restricting embargo on Cuba. Let’s let U.S. citizens travel to Cuba freely. Let’s close that U.S. prison on Cuban soil.
