The California legislature has ratified a gaming compact between the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians and the state. The agreement, which replaces one signed in 1999 and will be in effect for 25 years, allows the tribe to operate 500 more slot machines at no more than two casinos on the reservation as it exists today. “This is a good compact not just for the tribe, but for the entire community,” Chair Vincent Armenta said.
