First responders contained a quarter-acre brush fire that started Tuesday morning in a riverbed on the corner of North 7th Street and Riverside Drive in Lompoc.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded Tuesday morning at approximately 9:31 a.m. to a quarter-acre heavy brush fire in a county-owned riverbed on the corner of North 7th Street and Riverside Drive in the City of Lompoc, according to the county’s fire news line.

One Santa Barbara County fire engine and the Santa Barbara County Fire Hand Crew, with assistance from one Lompoc Fire Department engine and one Vandenberg Fire Department, contained the fire in 20 minutes. No structures were harmed, but the crew remains on scene, and a fire investigator in en route to determine the origin of the fire.
