Seasonal thieving is on the rise, with the Santa Barbara Police Department receiving calls of thefts of UPS and FedEx parcels left on doorsteps and also packages out of unlocked cars. Online tracking services can notify residents when packages have been delivered, and immediate retrieval by reliable neighbors or by recipients as soon as possible is advised. Drivers should also leave their car with the doors locked. Suspicious activity can be called in to 9-1-1.
